Before startup of a package there is a possibility to run an external script, such as an ant script

Secure Delivery Center is based on OneInstall and is fully extensible. In addition, it is possible to use p2 instructions to also execute a script. For the OneInstall extensions, you can add on additional processors, etc. with custom code and even custom user interfaces during the install. The November release includes the technical capabilities and guidance can be provided. Q1/Q2 may include additional tooling to make this simpler without creating scripts in XML though not committed at this time.

These OneInstall extensions, how complex are those? Are they plugins that extend a oneinstall extension point, or editing an XML with some content?

The OneInstall extensions can range from customizations performed by XML, to contributing an entire plugin with extension points to the installer. It mainly depends on exactly what you are trying to do. Running an external script can typically be done by simply XML configuration. We'll be happy to provide you guidance on this when you move forward with SDC.
